Spirulina

Characterization and Composition

Spirulina is a very complex microorganism with high nutritional value. Integration of Spirulina into the daily diet can help preventing the occurence of various nutritional deficiencies. It contains up to 70% proteins an thus contains all essential amino acids. Spirulina contains minor amounts of essential fatty acids, and important trace elements, e.g. iron, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, and potassium. Additionally, Spirulina contains different B vitamins, like thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and folic acid. Furthermore, high contents of vitamin E, K and B12 can be found in Spirulina. Vitamin B12 is especially important for vegetarians and vegans, as this vitamin is only present in minor amounts in plant derived foods. Spirulina contains high levels of phycocyanin, a strong antioxidative pigment. Spirulina is a good source of fibre and protein. Because of its rich composition, Spirulina would be able to fight malnutrition worldwide. The aztecs already knew about the value of Spirulina, and used it as food and feed in order to regain strength swiftly.

Effects and Benefits

Vitamin B12 and iron contained in Spirulina can help improving haematopoiesis. Additionally, vitamin B12 ensures a healthy metabolism, and improves the immune system. Magnesium and vitamin B12 reduce fatigue and speed up regeneration. Furthermore, the high content of magnesium in our Spirulina contributes to a normal muscle function. Vitamin E is an effective antioxidans, it protects our DNA, proteins, and lipids from oxidative stress. Spirulina contains a series of pigments which are also acting as antioxidants, e.g. β-carotin, echinenone, myxoxanthophyll, oscillaxanthin. Vitamin K, and E contribute to healthy bones and improved blood coagulation. Generally speaking, Spirulina is very well suited to provide basic dietary nutrients as well as important vitamins, and trace elements. Spirulina is easy to digest resulting in extraordinarily bioavailabilty of its contents.

Chlorella

Characterization and Composition

Chlorella produced by ecoduna is a unicellular green algae. In nature, Chlorella thrives in fresh water. Ecoduna produces Chlorella in pure drinking water supplemented with micronutrients. Therefore, this microalgae grows in a very controlled environment highly to a pure product.  Chlorella is rich in important nutrients. It contains up to 58% proteins, and essential amino acids. Additionally, Chlorella also contains important omega-3 fatty acids like α-linolenic acid (ALA), and trace elements, such as iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium and manganese. Chlorella contains high levels of vitamin K, and B vitamins. Thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, vitamin B6, and B12 are found in high levels in our Chlorella. Our product also contains increased levels of pantothenic acid, and vitamin E. Chlorella is rich in chlorophyll, which is a very good source of organic magnesium. Our Chlorella is a source of fibre and protein, and it is well suited for detoxification. Chlorella is an extraordinary dietary supplement.

Chlorella: Effects and Benefits

Vitamin B12 from Chlorella is a very important nutrient for the human body. In combination with iron, vitamin B12 ensures improved haematopoiesis, maintains a healthy metabolism and immune system. Furthermore, vitamin B12 and magnesium from Chlorella can help to reduce fatigue. The high magnesium content also contributes to healthy muscle function. Chlorella can also be used for detoxification of the body. It can divert toxins environment and heavy metals from the digestive tract.

Omega-3 Algae

Effects and Benefits

ecoduna cultivates very productive Omega-3 algae strains. These strains contain high amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), especially eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). EPA is an essential fatty acid for humans. Several studies suggest a positive, prevtentive role of EPA in heart health, dementia, thrombosis, and cardiovascular diseases. EPA is supposed to reduce inflammation reactions, and to maintain eye function. EPA can contribute to a healthy cardiovascular system. The recommended daily allowance of EPA and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, another long-chain omega-3 fatty acid) is 200 – 400 mg.

Focusing on plant-derived oils, e.g. linseed oil, walnut oil, or hemp oil, these oils only contain the omega-3 fatty acid α-linolenic acid (ALA). The human body must convert this fatty acid into eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), because these two fatty acids are biologically active and important for our bodies. The conversion rate from ALA to EPA and DHA in the human body is limited and dependent on many different factors like availability of micronutrients and overall health state. Therefore, EPA and DHA are also considered to be essential. Both of the two fatty acids are produced by microalgae. Thus, the ecoduna algae oil is a pure GMO free, natural source which contains the valuable omega-3 fatty acid EPA in high concentration.

A final product which is suitable for consumption cannot be offered at the present moment.
